CLAT
(Common Law Admission Test)
The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is the most coveted law entrance exam for admissions to as many as 2342 seats in five-year integrated law programmes including BA LLB, B.Com LLB and B.Sc LLB and is conducted every year by a National Law University (NLU) among the 17 member NLUs of the CLAT Committee, by rotation in the order of their establishment.
Eligibility

Passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with the minimum of:- (a) Forty-five percent (45%) marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/SAP (Specially Abled Persons) Categories and (b) Forty percent (40%) marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST Category.

Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May 2016 are also eligible for appearing in CLAT-2016 examination. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.

No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in CLAT- 2016.

The pattern of CLAT 2016 Entrance Examination is English including Comprehension; 40 Marks 2 General Knowledge and Current Affairs; 50 Marks 3 Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability); 20 Marks 4 Legal Aptitude; 50 Marks 5 Logical Reasoning; 40 Marks

‘1’ marks shall be awarded for each correct answer, ‘-0.25’ mark for a wrong answer, and ‘0’ for un-attempted question
Syllabus

English including Comprehension
The English section will test the candidates proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar in the comprehension section. Candidates will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein etc. The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling up of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.

General Knowledge and Currents Affairs
The General Knowledge of the candidates will be tested on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will test candidates on their knowledgeofnationalandinternationalcurrentaffairs.

Mathematics
This section will test candidate's knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e. math's taught up to 10th Standard.

Legal Aptitude
This section will test the candidate's interest towards study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions in this segment may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be "true" in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the "truth" of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.

Logical Reasoning
The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate's ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.
Application Form
1. Form Fees - For General / OBC / SAP (Specially Abled Persons) and other category candidates: ` 4000/- l For SC/STcategory candidates: ` 3500/-.
Application fee can be paid online through net-banking, debit card, credit card etc. The candidates will have to bear additional bank transaction charges in case they opt for remitting fee through net-banking payment gateways.
2.Registration And Procedure For Making Online Application
The original certificates/documents issued by the competent authority as specified in the CLAT-2016 Information Brochure are to be submitted to the allotted University only at the time of admission. The relevant photocopies of the certificates/documents are required to be self attested. Photograph and signatures of the candidate need not be attested while submitting the Online Application Form.
I. The scanned photocopies of the documents to be uploaded in the PDF/JPG format by all the candidates are:
(a) Birth Certificate (In case of non-availability of the Birth Certificate, the candidate may upload the copy of the certificate of matriculation issued by a recognized board, containing his/her Date of Birth or the copy of his/her Passport).
(b) Front facing Passport size photograph with clear lenses (30 mm x 45 mm) [JPG Format, size 100 kb].
(c) Signature of candidate [JPG Format, size 100 kb]. ii. The scanned photocopies of the documents to be uploaded in the PDF format by a candidate depending on the applicability are:
6 (a) Latest Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC).
(b) Certificate of impairment for Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and Declaration by the Scribe in the prescribed format.
(c) Category certificate like E.B.C., B.C., W.B.C., D.F.F., S.E.B.C., Ancestral residents of village Sidhuwal, District Patiala; Son/Daughter of Defense Personnel Deployed in U.P. or Defense Personnel of U.P. either retired or killed/disabled in action; Dependants of Freedom Fighter of U.P. and Kashmiri Migrant etc.
(d) Certificates in support of Candidate’s claim for NRI/NRI sponsored Candidate.
(e) Domicile Certificate in support of Candidate's claim for consideration under State Quota. The certificates/documents listed above are essential requirements for admission to the UG and PG course. In addition to the above, the candidates may be required to submit such other certificates/documents as may be specified by various Universities in their respective websites and also in the Instructions for Admission to Candidates from time to time. Further, the candidates will also be required to submit Photocopies of the relevant certificates/documents as may be specified/required by the concerned universities.
